The E-RISE RII: Arkansas Smart Transportation Research Incubator through Data Engineering and Science (AR-STRIDES) program (National Science Foundation Award No. 2445877) offers Use-Inspired Early Career Research Seed Grants to academic researchers employed at institutions of higher education (IHEs) within Arkansas. 

AR-STRIDES Research Seed grants awarded to early career faculty at IHEs within Arkansas will be approximately one year in duration and provide funding up to $75,000 in faculty salary, student support, travel, and materials and supplies. Early career faculty are faculty who have recently begun to develop their academic research programs.  While these are generally assistant professors, early career researchers may be associate or full professors who recently joined academia or whose institutions recently shifted to a research focus.  These exceptions should be evident in the CV and letter of interest submission.    

 

AR-STRIDES Research Seed Projects must support the AR-STRIDES research goals, target a federal funding opportunity, collaborate with an Arkansas company, and receive mentorship from an AR-STRIDES researcher or other Arkansas researcher with externally funded research experience. Because the overarching goal of AR-STRIDES is to build research capacity across the state, investigators from the University of Arkansas Fayetteville cannot serve as principal investigators.  Additionally, no funds can be awarded outside of the State of Arkansas. Questions may be emailed to arstrid@uark.edu.

The mission of AR-STRIDES is to promote and incubate sustainable research infrastructure and capacity to position teams of researchers in Arkansas to be leaders in data-driven supply chain technologies and data analytics solutions for next generation transportation and logistics. Funded seed projects will have the potential to increase federal funding, strengthen ties to Arkansas industries, and enhance the talent pool by expanding and/or leveraging research collaborations.
